It’s easier to reuse clear plastic than color plastic for new jars and bottles. Any plastic with color resin can still be recycled, but will likely be made into single use items like carpets and clothing.
For all glass and plastic cannabis packaging, make sure to give the products a good rinse before placing them in the correct recycling bin. Any liners should be removed from lids and any labels should be removed from jars.
While glass can seem like the most sustainable choice, it is much heavier than plastic, potentially causing more emissions to ship. When deciding between glass and plastic, keep in mind the weight of shipping products.
Be sure to check what your local facility will accept. While most recycling facilities accept #1 PET and Glass, PP is not always recycled.
