How is a child resistant container certified?

A child resistant container is a container certified by an independent testing laboratory to meet the standard established by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The closure must be challenging for children, between the ages of 42 to 54 months, to open and accessible by seniors. The answer to the question is published in the Code of Federal Regulations Title 16, Part 1700.
